Torque Plate, and Head Porting.

So basically there has been a HUGE void in progress due to modern day slavery and lack of free time, but now we have about 70% purchased the parts and we have gotten our act together.... ill place a complete parts and price list so every one has a good comparison guide and something to mooch information off... kkz so the head has been fully disassembled, we are yet to check the lifter's we have new *performance spring's, Custom *Ivan Tighe Cams  going in, and were gonna get adjustable cam gear's. the head is being ported and polished and were going to cut the seats also.. ill throw up a scanned image of the cam specs later on. We double checked the piston size's, and re-bored our torque plate to widen it out a bit as the company who makes them caked it hard. So basically below is a picture of the torque plate, head being ported, pistons and other stuff too. You see how clean the block came out compared to the first disassemble.

RB30 Dissassembly

RB30.. well well, a workmate pretty much found it lying in a paddock... to cut it short this was only meant to be a learning project and something to do to kill time over the Christmas break... originally a stock rebuild was planned, until our curiosity got the better of us. we explored our other options which were something between RB30det, RB30/25 N/A  or DET.

RB25/30det was what we settled at...

The original plan was to use the RB30 bottom end minus the pistons.. after dis assembly we found out why the RB30 was laying in the paddock... with a rod resembling a banana... we decided to scrap the rod's with the pistons. The head (SOHC) separated from the block went straight to the scrap heap. We began looking at our options, combo's of parts and any information on hybrid engines

we stuck with the stock crank, ACL race series - main and big end bearings with ARP main studs. As a replacement for the rods we went with Spool H-beams to support our JE pistons 8.7:1 CR (still on order) and a Cometic Head Gasket 87mm .051"

The block was dipped in acid and came out looking clean and fresh... (photo yet to come)

RB25 Dissassembly

Searched, high and low for a RB25 head.. posted on forums and called numerous wreckers and got quoted 1.5k to 2k for an RB25 with all accessories.. the last place i called had an engine for $550 had low compression...  it was an omen/bargain. we later picked up the engine from the Gold Coast.

We separated the head from the block removed all wiring, plenum and exhaust manifold as we plan to use after market exhaust manifold and plenum... no damage was found to the head which was pretty good was completely stock we had been talking and had hoped for some aftermarket cams as the previous owner had a gt3540 turbo on this engine. We took to the cam cover's like a pirate opening a treasure to find to our surprise (well not really) cams... stock.
